Description

Sunstone Solar, LLC has filed an application for a certificate of public convenience and necessity (CPCN) and registration as a new clean energy facility. The proposed project includes a 10 MWAC solar photovoltaic electric generating facility and a 10 MWAC Battery Energy Storage System (BESS). The facility will be located in Robeson County, North Carolina, approximately along the west side of Butler Road, south of Iona Church Road, north of Gerald Road, and east of Collville Road. The GPS coordinates for the proposed facility are 34.509 N and 79.247 W. Sunstone Solar plans to sell the electricity produced to the North Carolina Electric Membership Corporation (NCEMC). An amended application was filed on February 4, 2026, and the site layout may be subject to change based on government land use or interconnection requirements.
