PWAV Site Characterization Drilling Program
Palmdale Water District Engineering
The Palmdale Water District (PWD) is initiating the Pure Water Antelope Valley (PWAV) project, which aims to develop a drought-resilient water supply for the Antelope Valley area. This project involves replenishing the groundwater basin through the injection of treated wastewater. To support this initiative, PWD requires a site characterization drilling program to refine understanding of area aquifers, validate an existing groundwater model, and confirm regulatory compliance. The scope of work includes the drilling, construction, development, and testing of one deep test well (TW-1) and one monitoring well (MW-1). These activities will involve characterizing subsurface lithology and geochemistry, estimating potential full-scale injection capacity, and determining aquifer transport properties. The project specifications detail extensive requirements for drilling methods, casing and screen installation, gravel envelopes, annular seals, well development, aquifer testing (including pumping and injection tests), and water quality analysis, all to be performed in accordance with stringent industry standards and local regulations.
