2026 Alligator Tags for Lake Fields and Lake Long

The Lafourche Parish Game and Fish Commission is soliciting bids for 2026 alligator tags to be used in state lands around Lake Fields and Lake Long. A map of the areas is available on the Commission's website. Bids for Lake Fields and Lake Long will be considered separately. Each bid must be a sealed bid and include the hunter's name, address, contact information, alligator license numbers for the trapper and any helper, and vessel registration number. Bidders must also submit a brief resume of their alligator trapping experience, along with receipts, invoices, and other relevant paperwork for any alligator tag contracts held in the last three years. A fee of $100 per unfilled tag will be assessed to the awarded bidder. Bids are due on July 13th for each lake, and must be received by Friday, June 5th, 2026. Alligators must be sold to a licensed buyer, and no alligators may be purchased by the hunter or associated company and then sold to another buyer. A copy of the buyer's invoice must accompany payment to the Commission. Payment, in the form of a Cashier's check made payable to the Lafourche Parish Game & Fish Commission, must be received within 30 days of the close of the season. Failure to comply with these requirements may disqualify trappers from future alligator tag opportunities. The Commission reserves the right to consider any bid invalid if it does not comply with the stated rules and may not necessarily select the highest bidder. Bid openings will occur on a date, time, and location to be announced after bids are received.
