Description

This project involves the pavement reconstruction of the access road and parking lot for the Madison Wetland Management District (WMD) Headquarters and the United States Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) Visitor Center. The scope includes a designed pavement section of 3.5 inches of asphalt concrete pavement (ACP) over 4 inches of aggregate base material. The parking lot will be installed at grade with the adjacent sidewalk and concrete trail, improving safety and mobility. The project aims to extend the service life of the wearing surfaces. The existing two-way, single-lane access road will be preserved with a 14-foot roadway section. Pavement reconstruction will also address the approach road apron. The project includes full reconstruction of the existing parking lot and its east-side asphalt apron, connecting to the concrete trail. The updated pavement marking layout will provide 18 parking stalls in total, including one accessible stall, with specific dimensions and grading adjustments to ensure a uniform cross slope. The estimated cost range for this project is between $501,000 and $1,000,000.
