Description

The University of Southern Mississippi (USM) is procuring an all-electric 110-ton class injection molding machine. This equipment will support advanced manufacturing, materials processing research, sustainability and recycling of plastics, and educational initiatives at USM and the Mississippi Polymer Institute (MPI). The machine must be capable of processing thermoplastic materials and include a modern controller system with comprehensive monitoring. Key specifications include a maximum barrel temperature of 800°F, acceptance of molds up to 14"x14"x16", a screw diameter of 40mm, and a shot size of 171g (6 oz). The machine must also fit within the MPI Processing Lab's footprint (Max Machine Footprint: 179"x50") and be able to pass through an 82" door height and 70" door width. The bid includes requirements for hardware and software, installation, training, customer support, safety features, and a minimum one-year warranty. The vendor must provide onsite installation, familiarization, and training. Lead time for delivery should not exceed 16 weeks.
