]nasa space launch system (sls) cubesat opportunities on artemis iii, iv, and v missions.
NASA's Exploration Systems Development Mission Directorate (ESDMD) is inviting organizations to propose CubeSat payloads for the Artemis III, IV, and V missions. These opportunities are for 6U and 12U CubeSats, with potential deployment in Earth orbit, on a heliocentric disposal trajectory, or on a reentry trajectory from Earth orbit. The flight opportunities are cooperative and on a no-exchange-of-funds basis, supporting NASA's space exploration goals. Potential selection will be based on proposal and hardware maturity, as well as technical feasibility. Payload developers must adhere to the Space Launch System Use Policy. NASA provides the flight dispenser, engineering development unit dispenser for fit checks, flight separation connectors, and pre-screened battery cells. Key constraints include payload mass limits (under 14 kg for 6U, under 26 kg for 12U), specific environmental testing requirements (random vibration, quasi-static loads), and electromagnetic compatibility. Access to the spacecraft will be limited after integration, with only NASA personnel performing final battery charging if required. NASA will likely not provide deep space network or position navigation and timing support, requiring payload developers to procure their own communication infrastructure.
