Description
The National Park Service (NPS) is offering grants through its History of Equal Rights (HER) Grant Program, funded by the Historic Preservation Fund (HPF). These grants aim to preserve historic sites that are significant to the struggle for equal rights in the United States. Eligible projects include architectural services, historic structure reports, preservation plans, and physical preservation of structures. Grants are awarded competitively and do not require a non-Federal match. Eligible applicants include State governments, local governments, nonprofits, educational institutions, and Federally Recognized Indian Tribes, Alaskan Natives, and Native Hawaiian Organizations. Grants are not available for sites or collections owned or leased by the NPS. Projects must range from $75,000 to $750,000 in federal share, with no more than 20% allocated to pre-preservation costs. Applications solely for pre-preservation work must range from $15,000 to $75,000. Properties must be listed in or eligible for listing in the National Register of Historic Places or designated a National Historic Landmark, with significance related to the History of Equal Rights.
