Description
This opportunity provides grants for the preservation of historic structures on the campuses of accredited Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). Eligible properties must be listed or eligible for listing in the National Register of Historic Places, either individually or as part of a historic district. Projects can include survey, nomination, and preservation planning for these historic campuses, with all work adhering to the Secretary of the Interior's Standards and Guidelines for Archeology and Historic Preservation. The program aims to document, preserve, and stabilize these important historic structures, supporting the Administration's policies to promote HBCUs and enhance campus infrastructure. Projects are expected to range from $50,000 to $750,000 in federal share, with a maximum of 20% allocated to pre-preservation costs. Applicants are encouraged to prioritize projects that support America's 250th birthday celebration.
