Description
The Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL/RWTSH) requires a 137-actuator Micro-Electromechanical Systems (MEMS) Deformable Mirror (DM) to support research and development of new Electro-Optical/Infrared (EO/IR) sensing capabilities for hypersonics at the KHILS Laboratory, Eglin Air Force Base, Florida. This DM will be used to project aberrated wavefronts from an infrared scene projector to a hypersonic sensor under test during real-time, hardware-in-the-loop (HWIL) missile engagement simulations. The mirror must have a minimum actuator count of 137, a controllable aperture size between 4mm and 8mm, a minimum of 12 actuators across the aperture, and a response time of 450/650 microseconds. The driver frame rate must be 2kHz with 14-bit resolution. The delivery time shall be 14 weeks or less. This is a sole source solicitation to Boston Micromachines Corporation, as they are the only vendor identified as capable of meeting the specific requirements. Market research, including a SAM check and outreach to potential vendors, confirmed that Boston Micromachines Corporation is the only viable source. A Sources Sought notice was posted on SAM.gov with no responses received. The government intends to award a firm fixed-price purchase order.
