Description
The 99th Civil Engineer Squadron (99 CES) requires the procurement of one Ferroresonant Constant Current Regulator. The required system must be a 30kW unit operating at 240V with a 6.6A output current. Additionally, the regulator must feature a door-mounted ACE III Controller and fully meet FAA L-829 (IRMS) compliance standards. This requirement is being processed as a sole source purchase order under FAR 6.103-1(b) because only one source, ADB Safegate, is capable of fulfilling this requirement due to the proprietary nature of the equipment and associated parts already in use at Nellis Air Force Base flightline. ADB Safegate equipment is fully compatible with the existing regulators, monitoring systems, and control interfaces. Introducing a different manufacturer would require system redesign, re-integration, and potential recertification. ADB Safegate is the only company able to provide the Constant Current Regulator (CCR) needed for replacement in the event of component failure at Nellis Air Force Base.
