Description
The USDA Forest Service is soliciting for a native savanna seed mix to improve oak-pine savannas within the Baldwin/White Cloud Ranger District. This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items, set aside for small businesses. The acquisition is for an Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract with a five-year period of performance. The purpose of the contract is to secure services to grow, clean, package, and deliver native savanna seed mix. The seed mix is intended to increase the cover of native wildflowers and grasses, thereby reducing fuel loading and creating natural fuel breaks. This restoration effort aims to reduce the risk of high-intensity wildfires and enhance habitat for game species, supporting recreational opportunities and the local economy. Task orders will be issued for specific seed orders, with historical annual orders valued around $75,000. The contract will have a maximum cumulative value of $500,000 over five years, with a guaranteed minimum of $2,500. Seed origin is preferred to be from the Lower Peninsula of Michigan, with other Michigan and Great Lakes region sources as acceptable alternatives. Seed will be packaged in individually sealed bags labeled with species information, origin, and production year.
