Description

The U.S. Army Contracting Command-Redstone, in support of the U.S. Army Test, Measurement, and Diagnostic Equipment Activity (USATA), is seeking information on potential sources for two wind tunnels. These wind tunnels will be used by USATA Engineers and Technicians to provide OCONUS support for customers who own wind speed measuring devices. The equipment is intended to reduce the turn-around time for industrial hygiene and chemical testing facilities that currently send their equipment for testing. The wind tunnels must be capable of generating air speeds from 1.5 to 50 m/s with a total measurement uncertainty of less than or equal to 0.75% of reading. The test chamber should have cross-sectional dimensions between 4x4 inches and 12x12 inches, with turbulence intensity less than or equal to 1%. The maximum assembled dimensions are 10x3x6 feet (Length x Width x Height), and the design must allow it to fit through a standard 32-inch door. Open-circuit designs are acceptable if closed-circuit designs are not within budget. For designs over 45 kg, the wind tunnel should be built on a frame with casters. Motor noise should not exceed 90 dB at 50 m/s, and the motor should operate on a 220V 16A single-phase line. Support and accessories include organic calibration support, provision of any required calibration procedure/software, and software that does not require annual subscriptions or online connections. The operating software must report standard and actual wind speed, correct for pressure and temperature, and export data from test runs. The wind tunnels will be shipped to the TMDE Support Center (TSC) Kaiserslautern, Germany, and TSC Camp Carroll, South Korea. Interested parties are requested to provide company name, business size, socio-economic status, points of contact, Cage Code, and Unique Entity Identifier (UEI).
