Description
Salem-Keizer School District 24J is soliciting bids for the McKay Pump Replacement project. This project involves the replacement of pumps within the HVAC system due to repeated failures attributed to manufacturer defects and potential installation issues with bypass pipes. The district requires the remaining three pumps to be investigated, and if bypass pipes are too long, they should be replaced along with the existing pumps. Seismic bracing must also be provided for any pumps that do not have it installed, in accordance with original contract documents. Additionally, the project includes revising coil piping and valving to a three-way valve arrangement and replacing pressure gauges. The district is seeking to address issues with high pressure and casting failures observed in the pumps. The project also involves the integration of pumps under the Building Automation System (BAS) control, requiring relays for start/stop functionality and monitoring for failures. The district is looking to ensure minimum flow through boilers by addressing issues potentially masked by two-way valves that were opened continuously. The scope includes the replacement of all 19 penthouse coil pumps and associated piping and valving. Bids must be submitted online through the SKeBid system. A mandatory pre-bid and site walk will be held on June 17, 2026, at 8:00 AM at McKay High School.
