The City of Atlanta, through its Department of Corrections, is initiating a Multi-Step Sealed Bid process to procure on-call dental services for inmates housed at the Atlanta City Detention Center. The selected vendor, a licensed Dentist with a minimum of ten years of general practice experience and five years specifically in correctional dentistry, will be responsible for providing routine and emergency dental care. This includes screenings, examinations, treatment of pain, extractions, temporary fillings, hygienic services, education, and consultations. The dentist will also be responsible for developing treatment plans, referring to specialists when necessary, and maintaining dental standards consistent with ACA accreditation requirements. Services are to be provided on an as-needed basis, with at least two days' advance notice from the Director of Nursing. The facility has an operational capacity of 1,183 inmates, with an average daily population of approximately 60. Services not included are major oral surgery, replacement of full dentures, crowns, or bridgework, and routine filling replacements.
