Description
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS), Alaska Fisheries Science Center (AFSC) intends to award a sole source contract for one liquid nitrogen generator. This equipment is critical for the nutritional ecology laboratory to perform cryogenic homogenization of samples for fatty acids and thiaminase analysis, as well as compound specific stable isotope analysis of various marine tissues. The generator is needed as a replacement for a malfunctioning unit, as the original manufacturer is no longer in business and repairs are not feasible. Without this equipment, there will be significant delays in processing critical data for researchers and stakeholders. The required specifications for the liquid nitrogen generator include: - Daily generation of at least 10 liters of liquid nitrogen. - A storage tank capacity of approximately 55 liters. - Air-cooled system with an included air compressor. - Operation on a 120V power outlet. - Noise level below 70 db. - Mobility via wheels or casters. - Ability to easily fill a dewar. - Footprint approximately 36"L x 25"W x 63"H or smaller. - A 1-year warranty. The applicable NAICS code is 335312, with a small business size standard of 1,250 employees. The government intends to negotiate a firm fixed price contract. This is a Special Notice of Intent to a Single Source, not a request for competitive proposals. However, interested firms that believe they can meet the requirements may submit substantiating documentation by June 26, 2026, 5pm Eastern Time, via email to Christie.Lang@noaa.gov.
