Description
The City of Newport News is soliciting bids for glass replacement and repair services for various city buildings and locations. This contract will be on an as-needed basis over its term. Services include the replacement, repair, or reconditioning of glass doors, windows, and partitions. Applicable glass types include tempered, laminated, insulated, annealed, patterned, safety, and fire-rated glass. Required services encompass removal and disposal of existing glass and hardware, measurement, sourcing, and installation of appropriate glass types, resealing, weatherproofing, and post-installation cleanup. Each service request will be initiated by a work order specifying the location, scope, and any special requirements. The contractor must provide all labor, tools, materials, equipment, and resources necessary for safe and efficient completion of tasks. Normal service calls require on-site assessment and measurements within 48 hours, while emergency calls require a response within 4 hours. Pricing will be based on fixed hourly labor rates for normal and after-hours work, along with a markup percentage for parts and materials.
