Description
The California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) is seeking proposals for a Treatment Coordinator to provide outreach, education, and treatment coordination services to growers of commercial crops in Tulare County. This role is critical for managing the Glassy-winged sharpshooter (GWSS) pest and its potential to vector Pierce's disease (PD) in grapes, which poses a significant economic threat to California's agricultural industry. The contractor will be responsible for coordinating with CDFA, USDA, and Tulare County staff to develop treatment strategies, monitor pest data, identify affected growers, and provide them with educational information on GWSS control, treatment options, and integrated pest management. The role requires strong communication skills and a background in pest management, with the contractor needing to be licensed by the California Department of Pesticide Regulation as a Pest Control Advisor (PCA). Responsibilities include facilitating communication, maintaining records, providing monthly and annual reports, and ensuring treatments are applied in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations.
