Description
SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory is seeking a qualified general contractor to perform construction work to mitigate soil erosion in an area referred to as Sector 30. This project involves removing and replacing failed pavement, slope, earthwork, and a storm drain, and installing permanent vegetation and erosion control measures. Site visits were conducted on April 22, 2025, and January 15, 2026, to assess existing conditions, which include a 12- to 13-foot-tall hillside slope with gradients ranging from 1:1 to 4:1. The erosion area is adjacent to sediment basin 30F-7 and flows into catch basin 30F-11. The asphalt concrete pavement is approximately 285.5 feet in elevation and slopes down about 13 feet to the catch basin. Key tasks include site clearing and preparation, subgrade work, pavement area scarification, slope construction, and vegetation installation. The project requires adherence to specific environmental and safety standards, including those from the Bay Area Air Quality Management District and SLAC's own ES&H Manual. Subcontractors must also comply with federal regulations such as the Davis-Bacon Act and E-Verify requirements.
