Description
The National Science Foundation (NSF) is conducting market research to identify qualified and experienced sources to support the National Secure Data Service (NSDS) demonstration project. This project, mandated by the CHIPS and Science Act and included in the White House AI Action Plan, requires continuity of support for its various components through August 2027. The NSF is particularly interested in vendors capable of maintaining and developing the Secure Compute Environment (SCE), Data Navigator (including an AI Chatbot, Data Usage Platform, and Community Forum), AI Data Harmonizer toolkit, AI Data Ready Toolkit, AI State Data Explorer, Privacy-Enhancing Technologies, Data Quality Scorecard, and Data Protection Toolkit (DPT). Key components requiring uninterrupted service include the Secure Compute Environment, which provides a virtual data access platform for researchers and agencies with FEDRAMP moderate authorization. The Data Navigator aims to be an AI-based front door to the NSDS, offering natural language queries and expert assistance. The AI Data Harmonizer toolkit provides tools to streamline data processing tasks, while the AI Data Ready Toolkit helps make public data more usable by AI systems. The AI State Data Explorer will offer access to state government data, and Privacy-Enhancing Technologies are being integrated to facilitate secure data access and linkage. Additionally, the Data Quality Scorecard assesses data source fitness, and the Data Protection Toolkit offers resources for balancing data protection with increased access.
