Description
The United States Transportation Command (USTRANSCOM) is seeking non-federal partners from industry and academia to enter into Cooperative Research and Development Agreements (CRADAs). These agreements aim to produce study results that illustrate the uses, limitations, and delivered value of emerging Maritime Autonomous Surface Ships (MASS) technology for USTRANSCOM's materiel distribution needs across global supply chains. The studies will focus on technical and operational maturity, economics, underlying technologies, and the risks and benefits of MASS systems. Potential research topics include the current state-of-the-practice for MASS as a distribution method, strategic projections of MASS technologies, evaluation of new Department of War operational concepts enabled by MASS, port infrastructure integration, survivability against threats, and necessary regulatory requirements. USTRANSCOM may provide access to subject matter experts, facilities, and information on potential surge sealift needs. Collaborators are expected to provide their own resources, and no government funding will be provided to non-federal parties. White papers should be submitted electronically and are limited to 8 pages.
