Description
The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) requires molecular testing services for indeterminate thyroid nodules at the VA Puget Sound Health Care System in Seattle. This testing will be performed at an outside laboratory provided by the contractor. The contractor will supply transport media, packaging, and postage for overnight shipment of Fine Needle Aspiration (FNA) specimens. The molecular test must have high specificity and sensitivity for malignancy, employing an extensive panel of thyroid-related gene mutations including BRAF, RAS, TERT, RET, NTRK, and ALK. The test must accept samples from fine needle aspirations and frozen samples, providing a report with detected mutations/alterations and interpretation. The contractor's facility must be CLIA certified, and they must provide customer service with expertise in thyroid testing panels, available Monday-Friday, 8 am - 4:30 pm MST. The laboratory should have a reputable history of performing thyroid molecular testing for other VA laboratories. The estimated volume is approximately 120 molecular tests per year, with a turnaround time of seven (7) business days. The contract period is from October 1, 2026, to August 31, 2031, with a base year and four option periods.
