Description
This solicitation seeks the construction and installation of custom countertops and supporting wooden framework for a new culinary arts classroom at the Giddings State Juvenile Correctional Facility. The project involves building approximately 35 linear feet of 34-inch deep, 36-inch high countertop framework, and 14 linear feet of 30-inch deep, 36-inch high countertop framework. The framework must accommodate integrated sinks and allow for plumbing access via enclosed panels. Countertops must be durable, non-porous, non-staining, heat-resistant, and easy to clean, explicitly excluding Formica laminate. Provisions for two 30-inch residential stoves and two standard 24-inch dishwashers are to be incorporated into the countertop design. The installation requires securing countertops to walls and floors, and providing access for plumbers and electricians before enclosing the framework with a minimum 3/4" plywood coated and painted with fire-retardant material. Contractors are encouraged to conduct a site visit before bidding.
