Description
The United States Coast Guard (USCG) Research and Development Center (RDC) is seeking information on Micro-Uncrewed Systems (Micro-UxS) for inspecting dangerous vessel compartments. This Request for Information (RFI) aims to understand the availability and capabilities of systems that can fly, crawl, or submerge within confined vessel spaces, carrying inspection tools. The USCG is interested in technologies that align with the American Bureau of Shipping's guidance on Remote Inspection Technologies. Respondents should provide details on system descriptions, operational concepts, launch and recovery processes, payload/sensor specifications, intrinsically safe certifications, operation duration, environmental limitations, mobility, navigation, autonomous capabilities, and compliance with National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) cybersecurity guidelines. Information on available configurations, costs, maintenance, and software updates is also requested. Performance details such as effective coverage area, location accuracy, limitations, ability to operate with shipboard Electromagnetic Interference (EMI), and data transfer capabilities are required. Finally, respondents should indicate if their systems are demonstrable at Technology Readiness Level (TRL) 6 or greater by December 2026.
