Description
The North Carolina Department of Adult Correction is seeking a prime contractor for the Albemarle Correctional Institution Chiller Replacement project. This project involves replacing two 140-ton cooling towers, two 140-ton water-cooled chillers, and one 40-ton air-cooled chiller with two new 170-ton air-cooled chillers. Bids will be received for a single prime contract on a lump sum basis. A mandatory pre-bid meeting is scheduled for June 23, 2026, at 10:00 AM at the Albemarle Correctional Institution. Attendance at this meeting is required to be eligible to bid and will cover project-specific questions, security, bidding procedures, and bid forms. The meeting will also identify preferred brand alternates and their performance standards for owner approval. General contractors must hold an Unlimited license classification as required by the NC General Contractors Licensing Board. Proposals must be accompanied by a bid bond of 5% of the proposal amount or a cash deposit/certified check of equal value. A performance bond and a payment bond for 100% of the contract price will be required. Proposals cannot be withdrawn for 60 days after closing. The owner reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive informalities.
