Description
The National Institutes of Health (NIH), Office of the Director, Office of Acquisitions, intends to negotiate and award a firm-fixed-price purchase order on a non-competitive basis to Illumina, Inc. for twenty (20) Infinium Methylation Screening Array-48 Kits (Catalog No. 20112611). This is in support of the NHLBI Division of Intramural Research, Laboratory of Genomic Instability and Cardiopulmonary Outcomes (LoGICO). Illumina is the sole manufacturer and source of the Infinium Methylation Screening Array, a proprietary BeadChip product protected by patents and trade secrets. It is the only methylation array compatible with the Illumina iScan System and Infinium Automated Pipetting System with ILASS already installed at the NIA Laboratory of Neurogenetics where the assays will be performed. No other manufacturer produces a functionally equivalent product. The requirement is for the NHLBI Division of Intramural Research, Laboratory of Genomic Instability and Cardiopulmonary Outcomes (LoGICO) to conduct an epigenome-wide association study (EWAS) of DNA methylation patterns and cardiovascular disease (CVD) mortality risk using excess biospecimens from the NCI Prostate, Lung, Colorectal, and Ovarian (PLCO) Cancer Screening Trial. The kits contain approximately 270,000 CpG methylation sites, require 50ng genomic DNA input per sample, and are compatible with the Illumina iScan System and Infinium Automated Pipetting System with ILASS.
